Sculpture 1: The Prisoners (1999)

Sculpture 1 : The Prisoners , was inspired by the unfinished set of works by Michaelangelo for the tomb of Pope Julius II. Actually the piece is a study in weight‹a study in the physical, space and weight of stone. In one sense this relates to the oppressive emotional chains (symbolized by their encasement in rock) which tie the "Prisoners" down from within. Sculpture I was written for and orginally performed by Edwin London and the Cleveland Chamber Symphony.
