Performance
"Hearing our music performed was definitely the highlight of the week.
And ensembles don't get much better than that."

"I thought the performers were absolutely fabulous and that they did an excellent job interpreting my piece.
It was an incredible experience working with such talented people."

"There couldn't have been a better group to play our works than the YCP ensemble.
I thought they were dedicated, well rehearsed, and respectful of the composers' works."

"...inexplicably exciting and a good learning experience."

"It made me realize many things I can do to make my music easier to interpret and play.
It also helped me get a feel for coaching a group and working out problems.
I'm also thankful that the players were of such a high caliber -- I thought they were amazing."

"My first time listening to the quartet playing my piece was unforgettable. I loved it.
Dr. Brouwer gave lots of useful advice and recommendations and created a comfortable
environment. The quartet played really really well. It is unbelievable that they learned it so fast.
The concert was the highlight of the program! I felt excited the whole time they were playing my piece!"

Performance at the YCP The most important learning a young composer can do is to work with excellent performers on their own music and to hear it in concert and on recording. The performances and recordings of student works are at the core of the YCP Experience.
